UMDA is a special purpose vehicle to drive the reestablishment and development of a geographical location of Umuzu on Okija map and an irreversible renaissance of our Umuzu’s Okija ancestry.

Who We Are

Umuzu Mainland Development Association (UMDA) is an association of eligible male indigenes of Umuzu mainland community of Okija, in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State of Nigeria. The association was formed to continue the intentional development of Umuzu as a mainstream village in Okija town.

Essentially, Umuzu mainland is a geographical expression used to address Umuzu community of Uhuowele Okija consisting mainly of indigenes who are resettling in the ancestral homeland of Okija; being one of the original 30 villages making up: ‘Okija Ohu-ebe n’iri’.

Umuzu Mainland Development Association (UMDA) is a culmination of ideas, desires and commitment of young men of Umuzu village to ensure that the place and position of our Okija heritage is preserved eternally.

The association is inspired by the wisdom and hard-work of our pioneers who are the early resettlers on Okija mainland after decades of sojourn to a Newfoundland across the great Ulasi Rivers, near Amiyi in present Ogbaru L.G.A of Anambra state.

A land conducive for every indigene to define his or her individuality with support, pride and sense of community; where education is a new tradition and welfare a generational heritage.

Rebuild Umuzu village on Okija ancestral land, using modern infrastructures to supports socio-economic and cultural development of our people so as to make Umuzu Okija a reference point of community excellence in Okija land and beyond.

Rooted in the reality of our distinctive existentiality is an essence we must find and harness values from accordingly, and as such, “Onye ji a ruru ibuo; ya gwuru” is a flawless outlook.
